Smoking and Cooking artwork

Cooking pots and attendants such as these are a common and constant sight throughout Myanmar. Using bricks or stones to prop their large round pots off the ground just enough to build small fires under them, the attendants cook elaborate meals for large crowds. The smoky wood they use for cooking stings the eyes and fills the air with its sweet smell everywhere. The smoking of cigars and pipes is also common among the older women. Most of the people of this part of the world seem to be able to do everything in this squatting position. Many homes have no furniture, and most people squat together like this in circles of conversation.
