Myanmar Gold Hardcover
The Story
Travel deep into the mountains and jungles of Burma (Myanmar) and hear stories as exotic and dangerous as the land itself.
Bengal tigers, spitting cobras, wild elephants, and even headhunters serve as the backdrop for an incredible never-told story of the conversion of an entire village of the Kaang Chin people from the dark holds of Animism.
See how the Son of God rises among them and brings the light of the glorious Gospel, dispelling the darkness of their false religion whose priests cruelly torture animals to appease sinister spirits.
Be prepared to laugh heartily with a people of robust joy and cry with them in the depths of their North Koreanesque persecution.
In this nearly three-hundred-page narrative, you will triumph with these amazing people as they crush the head of Satan who loomed over them like none of their brutal military leaders dared. You may have thought stories like David Livingston in Africa or Hudson Taylor in China were part of the distant past. Think again!
The Hero
While you've never heard the name Naing Thang, after reading Myanmar Gold you will conclude he is indeed one of history's great heroes of the Christian faith.

Miracles do Happen Today!!
~ Joy from Hilliard, OHIf you want to see God in action (parting of the Red Sea type of action), this is the book to read. It will blow your mind! You won't be able to put it down. I didn't even know where Myanmar (formerly Burma) was, much less what life was like there This phenomenal true-life story is about a lost people on the other side of the world and how God used a few remarkable indigenous people and a faithful pastor from Ohio who heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And he said, "Here am I. Send me!" (Isiah 6:8). The writing is superb and you will feel like you are right there in this dangerous, beautiful, mysterious place where tigers and elephants and cobras and warring generals are just a normal part of life there. And into the darkness, God shone His light. It's an amazing story, don't miss it.

I honestly can’t put into words how much I loved this book. It challenged me, it increased my faith, made me laugh and lots of crying!! One of my favorite passages from the book is on page 35. It says... I soon found out that God had, in his kindness, prepared me for them, and them for me. This is what God does. God always makes us what we need to be to do what he has called us to do. When we learned this, fear dissipates. Then and only then, the rest and relaxation of walking by faith becomes joy. I think I read that 30 times😊 Keep up the good work, I will continue to pray for the people of Myanmar, but now with a lot more insight. I one day would love to meet Pastor Naing. Much love and prayers!!!

This is a very moving story of modern missions in Myanmar, and is worth reading just to learn more about the powerful ways God has used Naing Thang and his fellow-workers to change that country. But this story does more than tell a story about others. By the end of the book you will find your own heart wrapped up in that country. Pastor Mark Robinette accomplishes this without any guilt manipulation or preaching. If anything he artfully uses his own fears, inadequacies, longings, and doubts to help the reader to realize that all of us can have a part in world missions. As he winsomely relates how his own heart was captivated by missions and knit to the heart of Naing Thang, he helps the reader to gradually catch that same fire. You come away from this book fired up about what God is doing with ministers like Naing and wanting a piece of the action. It’s hard to put this book down. And it is impossible to remain the same after reading it. Read it to your kids. Read it to your spouse. Read it when you can, but read it. You will be glad you did.

I agree with EVERYTHING here. I love the book. I feel like I'm sitting at Pastor Mark's feet as he finds Jesus Christ in Myanmar. It's such a delight and so fun to read the details and the JOY of our brothers and sisters there. It made me want to POUR out everything for Jesus and showed me how much I am too often absorbed in making this life "comfortable". After reading the first 60+ pages, it reminded me that we are to be POURED out vessels here for Christ Jesus because He was poured out for us, for God's glory!

This book is amazing! A game changer. It will cause you to look at life through different lenses. A real life encounter with the least of these. Truly Jesus walks among the Myanmar people. Thank you Pastor Mark for taking me on a journey of a lifetime. Every place you walked, every person that ripped your heart to tears, was felt in the pages of this life-changing book.

Don’t read this book: if you’re content with the state of your Christian life. If you think God is done performing miracles. If you don’t think there are any more Christian heroes. If you think the world is getting worse and that King Jesus is losing the battle.

This is a captivating book. It should be an instant classic, as it puts you in the mind of the histories of the Reformation. Mark is a master storyteller, bring you along on this funny, scary and touching relationship. He shows both the great courage and love of Pastor Naing, as he risks his life for his neighbors to hear the gospel. If you are looking to be motivated and inspired to missions, this is the book for you.

This is a book you won't want to put down!! The author is such an excellent story teller. You will laugh, cry, be inspired. There are so many inspiring people he introduces us to in this book. The most inspiring being Naing Thang and his wife. Their commitment to the work of God in a country with so much poverty is astounding. I pray this book can be around for generations and the stories in it be in likeness with George Müeller and Amy Charmichael.
